Yippee! It’s day 30 and it’s almost over!

The last day of my 30 days raw food challenge has arrived and I gotta say that it’s been quite a month! The whole thing has been a great success, but I’ll get into the details in my final report which will be ready early next week. It’s going to have all the details, the good, the bad, and the ugly. (eww)

Days 26 and 27 were pretty average days. I felt just fine as I have for the last couple weeks of eating raw. I made some tasty guacamole out of an avocado and some spices on day 26 and ate it on day 27 after letting it stand in the fridge for about 15 hours. This helped improve the flavor. I have never made guacamole before and I have only eaten the stuff a handful of times before. It was pretty good, but making it was more difficult than I had imagined. I had no idea avacados would be hard to mash! I kept bending the fork I was using – oops! Maybe I just had a hard one.

The guacamole was pretty good. I don’t really like avocados but I think guacamole is the best way I’ve tried them. I took some pictures of the guacamole and some salads for this post but I can’t locate the usb cable for my camera at the moment so I’ll hopefully add them to the final report.

Day 28 was weird partially because my sleep pattern was all bunged up like usual because of my current night shift schedule at work – I really have to get on this making money online thing so I can ditch the slave labor -  and partially because I woke up with a sour stomach.. You know, when you burp and it tastes like rotten eggs and smells about as nice? – Gross!

I thought that maybe if I downed a smoothie it might get rid of the sour stomach so I popped by Booster Juice to grab a smoothie. I forgot to tell them to hold the yogurt in the smoothie, so I had one with yogurt in. It was really tasty but it didn’t cure the sour stomach. I would be inclined to blame the yogurt in the smoothie for the rotten stomach but my stomach felt that way before I stopped for a BJ. (booster juice, ya perv!) I the booster juice had acai berry and I got a vegetarian protein booster added to it since it was early in the morning. The smoothie got me going for the day but it had a lot of pieces of seeds in it which was annoying – the girl at Booster Juice should have left the Vitamix on longer. ;)

The sour stomach continued through the day. I ate a hempseed salad and some more fruit in hopes that it would fix it, but it didn’t. I had to work that night so I had a 4 hour nap and hoped that when I woke up I would feel better – but I didn’t. I went to work still feeling like I had a pile of rotten eggs in my stomach and it continued throughout the entire night.

Day 29 I woke up and the sour stomach was gone but my guts felt kind of gurgly for the first part of the day. I also worked on day 29, I brought a big lunch of fruit but about 4 hours into the shift a bunch of free pizza arrived at work. The management bought us pizza for lunch! I can’t say no to free pizza… So I tossed the banana I was eating and ate a bunch of pizza with everyone else. It was really delicious, but it seemed really hot in my mouth. It was the hottest thing I’ve eaten in almost 30 days, it was kind of a weird sensation.

Everyone was happy to see me eating ‘real food’ again. They keep saying I look really small and they started calling me ‘Skinny Mitch’ – haha. One of the guys even said he was pleased to be able to witness my return to cooked food.

After eating the pizza my stomach continued feeling gurgly for about 30 minutes. It started feeling better shortly after. I actually felt better than I had in 2 days after eating the pizza which came as a big surprise. I thought that swallowing a bunch of hot greasy pizza would make me feel sick, but it didn’t. I felt really heavy when I went back to work after pigging out. My midsection definitely felt weighed down compared to how it has been for the last 30 days.

So I guess the diet is pretty much over now. I technically have 7 hours left and I am going to eat raw for today to finish the 30 days but considering the huge amount of pizza I ate yesterday I think the diet can be considered done. I’m really happy with the experiment, I learned a lot. It helped me to form a habit of eating more raw produce when I am hungry which will be something I will carry on with me into the future.

Weight Loss

On days 27 and 28 I weighed in at 152 and 151 lbs respectively. This is really really low in my opinion. I think that I looked like I weighed a lot more than 151 lbs, the guys at work agreed that I looked like I weighed more than that but still looked very skinny compared to a month ago.

I weighed myself after work this morning (after day 29 & the pizza) and I was back up to 155 lbs. That’s because of the pizza taking its time being digested and probably holding up all the rest of the fruit and veggies I’ve eaten since then as well.

Detailed raw food diet report coming next week

This will be the last regular raw food diet update for the trial. The next post I make will be the final, detailed report on the entire month-long experience with raw foods.

I admit, I’ve grown a little tired of writing about what I had for lunch so I’m looking forward to getting back to blogging about more exciting things like the nature of reality and the elevation & evolution of conscious human beings. :)

Thanks everyone for all of your support during this 30 day trial, I appreciate it more than you know.

Until next time.. ‘Stay fit, and have fun!’ – bahaha, oh Hal Johnson you crazy kid!
