Well it’s day 7 and I don’t work tonight so I’m writing this post a little earlier than usual but I will post it around 9am (to hit peak web traffic hours).

I slept for a long time today, about 9 hours. It was nice to do that again, but I feel more groggy now than if I had only gotten about 6 or 7 hours. I find that 6 and a half hours is the best amount for me to have a really productive day.

I started out by eating 3 large bananas for breakfast. I have decided to up my intake of chlorella to help aid in detoxification as well as providing an excellent source of nutrients and anti-oxidants. I will now be taking about 5g per day of broken cell wall chlorella every day with food.

I had to go to Sobeys again today for groceries. I spent another $110 dollars today on food. This is going to be an expensive month for food. I’m spending more on food than I would if I went to the bar 3 times a week, yikes! The good thing is that most of my food is being eaten before it goes bad. I’m losing a few items here and there but for the most part I’m eating everything and nothing is going to waste. What I don’t eat, my iguana gets. :) She loves it. She’s been being well fed as of late, I just make her food when I prep my own, we have similar tastes. She eats collard and dandelion greens by the pound. :)

For food today I made a spicy 5 lb salad. That’s right, it weights just over 5 pounds with the bowl. This salad is HUGE!

Ingredients:

  • 258g bag of Dole Country Garden Mix salad (including small bag of dried fruit & nuts)
  • Spinach – 2 big handfuls
  • 1 large cucumber – diced
  • 6 stalks celery – chopped
  • 9 cherry tomatoes – 20g each
  • 1/2 a lime – squeezed over top

Dressing (all ingredients blended until smooth & runny):

  • 1/2 an avacado
  • 3/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 chili pepper
  • 1/2 sweet red bell pepper
  • 1/2 banana pepper
  • 1/2 a mango
  • 1/2 a lime (juiced)
  • chipotle chili pepper spice
  • cayenne pepper spice

This salad is really delicious but it’s fairly spicy because of the particular dressing I made today. I really like spicy stuff so thats okay. It’s got really great flavor in my opinion, the spiciness goes away very quickly which is nice. I think this is my favorite meal I have made so far on this trial. I’m learning how to make some really great stuff and I’m starting to see how the possibilities are really endless! I like spiciness so I made enough dressing for another salad just as big tomorrow. It took me a long time to eat that salad and it was almost enough food for the whole day. After eating the salad the only other thing I had to eat was another large banana.

I was going to take some pictures today. I even had all my ingredients set up all pretty for a photo before making the meal, but when I grabbed my camera to take a picture I was disappointed to find that the battery was dead. It’s still dead because I seem to have misplaced the charger when I moved a few months back! I haven’t used the camera until this week, so I am going to have to hunt down that charger awfully quick so I can take some more pictures of my meals.

I have tons of energy today and I’m feeling really kick ass. To be honest I think I feel better on this diet than I ever have… EVER! I might stick to a diet much like this after this trial if it continues to feel so great. This is something I had doubts about before starting this trial. Everywhere I read about people who do this diet properly all say that you feel awesome after the initial detox period. I’m feeling great already so I can’t wait to see what it’s like in week 4!

My teeth feel a little weird today and I have some pretty bad breath sometimes. My teeth feel like they have a coating or something? I guess that’s a reminder to brush. I use an all natural toothpaste with no chemicals or fluoride in it called AloeDent. It’s really great, my whole family likes it too. My breath seems to get bad only for brief periods which is weird. I’m pretty sure that both of these things are due to the diet and the detoxification process. It’s just something I’ll have to deal with for a bit I guess.

Weight Loss

Today I weigh 157 lbs. I lost another pound today. 11 lbs lost in one week on the raw food diet. I do notice that I am starting to look a bit thinner mostly in the man-boobs and stomach areas which is where most of my extra weight is, so I guess that’s a good thing! My body is adjusting to its optimal weight thanks to this raw food diet. I am still getting enough calories, enough fats, enough protein, and tons of nutrients. I have stopped taking my multivitamins for this trial. I don’t see the need to spend any additional money on a multivitamin while on a diet like this. I am getting more than enough nutrients from my diet this month.

I think tonight I will buy myself a food scale and start weighing all of the foods I eat and start calculating how many calories, fats, proteins, etc. I am getting from my food. I think that would be a great addition to the knowledge gained from doing this trial and it would make these posts more useful for future reference and for other people wanting to try a similar diet after reading my blog.
