Another great day on the raw food diet! Today was the best one yet. I feel great, I have lots of energy, and I don’t seem to have any terrible detox side effects. All day I felt wonderful. For both day 4 and 5 I have only had about 5 and a half hours of sleep each day and I haven’t run out of energy even after working 12 hour shifts.
I am kind of adjusting to eating almost all the time. The flavors of fruits and veggies are really starting to be more appealing to me lately, and other food doesn’t seem quite as appetizing as it used to. I experienced practically no cravings whatsoever today. I thought this was going to be a lot more challenging than the last few days have been. Everything seems A-OK. I feel good, I’m happy, I have tons of energy, and I’m eating a lot of food!
The guys at work said I look really skinny again today, but I think they are only saying that because they see me eating only fruits and veggies. They are of the belief that fruits and veggies are “girl food” and that you can’t get full by eating them. They use the fact that I am constantly eating more food as a way to back their beliefs.
I started today with 2 bananas and a mandarin. Later on I ate about half of the salad I made yesterday. I got full before I could finish eating the salad so I decided to save some for later. I finished the rest of the salad an hour or two later with 4 slices of pineapple, 2 apples, and another mandarin.
Around half way through my shift I ate a container of strawberries that weighed 1 pound. I really seem to like eating them around half way through my night for some reason.. Anyway, they were good. My coworkers are actually a bit jealous of how many strawberries I eat, at least thats what I think, not that it means much. I ate another 2 mandarins after eating the strawberries as well.
I also snacked on a pear, 2 kiwis, and some more pineapple before the end of my shift.
On my way home I stopped at Sobeys to grab a couple premixed salads to save some prep time because I’ve gotta get to bed early today.. Home inspection early tomorrow and I have to be out of the house while they do it so I have to get up about 3 hours earlier than usual.
I was pretty hungry when I got home and I made this tasty salad:
The salad contained a 360 gram bag of mixed greens including romaine, iceberg, carrots, radicchio, and it came with a little packet of spice and a packet of dried fruit and nuts. I added the fruit and nuts even though I don’t think it’s completely ‘raw’. I’m not going to be that terribly picky of wether they are raw or not. It’s only a small bag of nuts and fruit and they may even be raw, I don’t know for sure.
I added 4 stalks of celery, a big handful of spinach, 6 cherry tomatoes, and half a cucumber to the salad. I didn’t use the dressing that came with the salad because it contains some stuff I can’t pronounce. That’s always a good sign you should stay away from it. If you can’t pronounce the ingredients, or if the list is 2 miles long, that’s a pretty safe bet there’s some stuff in there that’s not good for you. Anyway, I made my own dressing today.
The dressing was made of: 1 avacado, 1 chili pepper, half a bell pepper, half a lime (juiced), ‘lemon & herbs’ spice, and half a cup of water.
I really like how the dressing turned out. I will probably make this dressing again. I find that I really enjoy chili peppers and lime juice in my dressings. This one turned out nice and creamy and has a bit of zing but not really all that spicy, the lime-citrus flavor totally masks most of the heat from the chili.
This is also the first time I’ve ever used an avacado for anything. I’m trying a lot of new foods since starting this trial and it’s actually turning out to be a tremendous experiment. I’m learning a lot, being more creative with my meals, and learning to make some pretty tasty new dishes all from scratch. It’s also been remarkably easy compared to what I was expecting. I have absolutely no doubt that I will make it all 30 days. There’s no way I will give up on this trial, especially if it keeps going as great as it went today. I actually feel better than when I started!
So far my only complaint about this diet is that it is so damn expensive. I’m keeping my receipts from all of my groceries during this trial and will add them up at the end for the grand total spent on my 30 day raw foods diet.
Oh, and I still am not thirsty. I have to force myself to drink water because I simply don’t get thirsty naturally while on this diet. I used to drink lots of water all day but now it rarely crosses my mind.. Probably because I’m too busy gobbling down strawberries.
I weigh in at 161 lbs today and I guess that’s all I have for today… Time to finish this salad and go to bed!

You can do it! Feel the enzymes living!!!
I was gonna ask about the cost. It sounds really expensive. I eat a lot of fruit and it’s expensive, so I imagine if that’s all I ate I’d be on the street. Veggies in general are a lot cheaper. Strawberries and pears? So tasty tho. Way to gooooo !!
So far I would say I’ve eaten about $150 dollars worth of food.
