Day 3 seemed like a breeze compared to what I went through yesterday. I woke up feeling well rested and refreshed. I ate 2 bananas before heading to work today. On my first break at work I ate a bunch of broccoli, about 160g and 3 mandarins and I repeated this except with a little less broccoli again later on.
I felt good all morning, no headaches or nausea or anything. My stomach felt happy all day today, my mind was fairly clear today as well. I remembered to bring my book to work today but I did forget to take my vitamins and chlorella so they were absent from my diet today.
Around half way through my 12 hour shift I ate a large serving of strawberries. I would guess about a dozen medium sized berries, these were delicious.
Throughout the rest of my shift I ate 7 large carrots, and 4 kiwis. At this point I ran out of food that I had brought in my lunch aside from a whole yellow bell pepper which I didn’t feel like eating. I was still feeling hungry so I ran to the closest store and grabbed a bag of pistachios (150g) and a small fruit tray with 3 small slices of watermelon, some cantaloup and honeydew melon and about a handful of grapes. That sustained me until it was time to clock-out for the day.
I felt slightly hungry for most of the day even though it seemed like I was eating a lot of food. I expected this to happen at the start of this trial while I adjust to eating a higher quantity of food to keep my calories at a healthy level. I am in no way afraid of eating more food. My energy levels and motivation were neither high nor low compared to how I normally feel. Other than feeling slightly hungry throughout the day it was a pretty normal day. I was happy to feel normal since yesterday was so rough.
I stopped by the grocery store again on my way home from work this morning (yes I get off work in the morning, I work the night shift) and grabbed a few more things. I was feeling kind of bored with what I was eating today so I decided to look up a few recipes and start experimenting with some raw vegan dishes. If anyone has any suggestions for some tasty meals please post in the comments below, I would love to hear your favorites!
When I got home I put all the groceries away, ate a baby (mini) banana, and decided to try making my first raw dip. I put a bunch of cashews into my blender and blended until a powder. Then I added some (filtered) water and an entire chili pepper (chopped). I added some red curry powder, ginger powder, garlic powder, lime juice (fresh), cilantro, italian herbs, and lemon & herbs spices, all to taste. I didn’t measure any of those ingredients, I just added whatever I thought would be enough and then adjusted to taste. I blended this all up, putting the cilantro in last to avoid it turning the dip a gross color which was a tip I read on a raw food recipe website.
The dip tastes pretty good. I’m actually impressed with how it turned out since it was my first attempt at making a raw dip. It is surprisingly easy to make and it’s actually kind of filling because of all of the nuts. It could stand to have a little less cilantro next time, but it’s not bad at all. This dip goes good with veggies, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber, etc, but I wanted to go one step further this morning and have an actual raw meal.
Here’s what I came up with:
I guess these would be some kind of raw food ‘taco’ or a wrap of some kind. There are 5 of them on the plate and each one is on a leaf of romaine lettuce. Each ‘taco’ has a slice of cucumber, several spinach stems, chopped celery, and a couple spoonfulls of the dip that I described above.
The taco’s were pretty tasty but next time I think I will chop up the spinach stems into smaller pieces because they liked to just slide out of the leaf on the first bite. Other than that, this was my first real raw meal and it turned out pretty good. I would even give these to guests to try, so I think I did quite well for a noob
After eating these tacos I feel motivated to try some other raw food dishes so please post them in the comments box below and I’ll probably give them a whirl sometime in the next week or two.
I didn’t really notice any cravings today. The guys at work went to A&W for some burgers last night and asked if I would like anything. Of course I said no. The idea of some greasy fast food did sound mildly appealing at first, but within a few minutes of thinking about it I realized that it really wasn’t all that appealing. It actually seemed kind of gross the more I thought about it.
I noticed that I’m not nearly as thirsty when eating raw. I have to consciously make myself want to drink fluids because I just have no natural urge to down any water lately. I have to make sure I drink enough water while on this diet, just because there is a lot of water content in raw foods doesn’t mean you can quit drinking water. Drink lots of clean, chemical & fluoride free drinking water every day, it’s very important to maintain good health.
Today I weighed in at about 161 lbs. Somehow I lost one more pound today which to me is a little strange because I haven’t pooped at all today. I’m kind of wondering about that… I ate a lot of food today but none of it has come out. I didn’t even have to pee very often today. That’s a big change from yesterday when I was running to the can nearly every hour to take a leak and pooped 4 times. Ah well, I’m in no rush to see that food for the second time.
Overall day 3 was a good one. I’m motivated to continue this trial and I know I am going to make it all 30 days. Hopefully they are all as good or better than today was. Only time will tell.

You should put up some cheap and easy recipes that would be interesting. A lot of the organic good foods around here are very expensive and driving to a regional farmers market is not an option for me.
Also here is a link of an opposing viewpoint on the use of silver supplements.

Ahhh…
I am inspired. Luckily, Calgary has an abundance of stores offering organic produce, at somewhat reasonable prices. Abandoning coffee is going to be a major hurdle. Can I still drink green tea? I have been afflicted by some pretty rotten ailments in the past year (most of which being under the umbrella of “Allergies”) A month ago I quit smoking! (please read about the risk of Macular Degeneration in smokers who consume high levels of Beta Carotene)
Good Luck with the trial!
Hey Shauna thanks for the comment! I am not drinking any tea with caffeine. I am drinking Tulsi tea though. You can find it on dr. Mercola’s website. You can find a link to it on the right side of the page under “Recommended” .
Thanks for the well wishes!
