Continuing where yesterdays post left off:
I went to bed but didn’t get a whole lot of rest after the dance party. I suddenly felt an intense wave of nausea come on like a ton of bricks as I crawled into bed. I immediately got up and ran to the washroom to barf. After I finished I felt normal again for about an hour or two when the same thing happened again. It happened 4 times during the night before getting out of bed for the day.
When I finally crawled out of bed I continued to feel nausea for most of the day. I’ve felt weak for most of the day as well, probably because I was so nauseous I couldn’t choke down much food. I am fairly sure this is a side effect from the detox, but it could have been a flu bug I picked up over the last few days too. I’m not exactly sure, but I’m leaning towards the detox side of things.
I spent my day mostly just sitting around trying not to be too nauseous and writing these blog posts. It took me about an hour to eat a single mandarin orange.
I decided it would be a good idea to try drinking a smoothie instead of eating, so I mixed up a strawberry blueberry smoothie. It tasted okay but had a really gelatinous texture which I didn’t really like. I don’t know why it turned out like that. It also seemed kind of foamy. I drank most of the smoothie but couldn’t finish the whole thing.
After sitting around for a couple more hours I ate 2 more mandarins and had a banana. I was then feeling well enough to at least move around and socialize a bit, so that’s what I did.
As I write this now I feel alright but definitely still feel weaker than normal and I’ve got a mild case of mind-fog. This is probably because I haven’t had much for protein today. I am going to down a handful of chlorella with some water and try to much on a few more things before going to bed today. I’ll update this post later with anything else that I eat before bed.
The nausea has been gone for a few hours now, so I hope it continues this way. I hope tomorrow isn’t a repeat of today. I work again tomorrow and I’ll probably have to take a trip to Sobeys after I’m done because I’ll be close to out of food again after tomorrow.

You should get a juicer. I myself finally decided that getting water with low flouride was too expensive and you still get flouride in the water even if they don’t add it in purposely. So now I try to juice half a gallon a day and water the other half. 3 Oranges in this Jack Lelane power juicer tastes so good. Around here they would charge you $6 for that. Or I could pay $2.80 for 7 oranges bwhahah! Keep on eatin the four food groups: Beans, Grains, Fruits, and Vegetables.
Hi Mitch,
I just noticed your 30-day raw food experiment and what drew my attention was the detox effect. I was wondering if it is true indeed that a few days after one starts a raw food diet the body attempts to get rid of the accumulated toxins causing effects like the ones you experienced. Judging from your experiment and what I have seen in others, it appears that the detox side effects do exist.
